The Oregon Water Resources Department web site allows anyone to find and print well reports
via the internet. To start the search you will have to input the township, range, section, and county within which the property is located. The search will generate a table of wells (profile) drilled in that
section. A section is one mile square, 640 acres, and may contain dozens, or hundreds of wells. Knowing the street address, tax lot number, or the name of the owner who drilled the well can help narrow the search; however, street address and tax lot were not required information on drillers' well reports until 15-20 years ago, so some table entries may lack that
information.
Here are some tips on using the table:
-
To view an
individual well report, right click on the well log
identification number ("Well Log" column) and
select "Save Target As" from the menu. You can
then save the log to a folder or to the desktop. From
there you can view it and print it.
-
Click on the column headings for Depth, Yield, or Completed Date to sort the data by those
criteria.
-
Use the "Q-QQ" information (second column from the left) to select logs within the same
quarter section (160 acres) or quarter-quarter section (40 acres) as the property you are interested in.
Go to the Water
Resources Department web site by clicking on their banner below
-
At the home
page, click on "Access Well Logs" or "GRID-Web".
-
At the GRID Query page, enter the search data for township, range,
section, and county.
-
In the box for
"Records per page" you are determining how many
well log enteries per page will be shown at one time on your
screen. I suggest altering the default number from
"10" to "1000". This results in a
continuous table presentation that can be easily scrolled.
-
Click the "Search" button on
to begin.
